Citrusni flavanoni, naringenin (NAR) i hesperetin (HES), su polifenolne supstance koje zbog sterne sličnosti sa endogenim tiroksinom (T4) mogu da interferiraju sa aktivnošću tiroidne peroksidaze, ključnog enzima u biosintezi tiroidnih hormona.
