Abstract:
White eye mutation in Drosophila melanogaster resulted in significant reduction in pre-adult development time. However, this reduction in pre-adult development time was accompanied by nonsignificant reduction in adult dry weight, life-time oviposition, and longevity lending a fortuitous support to the ‘neutral theory of molecular evolution’. Key words: white eye, life history, oviposition, longevity, lipid content.
