Due to the Mediterranean influence that is spreading across the North Macedonia to the north, some Mediterranean Reptile species have been recorded in Serbia, but there is a possibility that there are still unregistered ones. Concerning the importance of this part of Serbia, intensive faunistic research was done, which resulted in the discovery of L. trilineata, a new species for the herpetofauna of Serbia, in several localities. At each of explored localities, we found only one or few individuals of L. trilineata. This result lays the foundation for future population and conservation research of L. trilineata on the margins of its distribution. |
