Checklist of the genus Niphargus Schiødte, 1849 (Amphipoda: Niphargidae) in Serbia, with some remarks on their distributions

Abstract

Twenty-two species of the genusNiphargus Schiödte, 1849 (Amphipoda: Niphargidae),including 14 strictly steno-endemic species, are knownfrom the territory of Serbia. There are an additional 5species which probably inhabit the same area, but dataindicating their presence are doubtful and remain un-confirmed so far. Distinctive morphological charactersof the species are listed, including all known localitiesand the presumed distributions.
