A Review of the investigations, preliminary-list of species and diversity estimation of freshwater and terrestrial crustaceans of the Balkans and FR Yugoslavia

Abstract

On the basis of literature data for the first time preliminary-list of freshwater and terrestrial crustaceans of the Balkans and FR Yugoslavia is made, including data on the distribution of certain species, with special emphasis on endemic species; in the area of Balkans, 783 species were registered, 203 of which are endemic. In FR Yugoslavia 346 species, among which 51 are endemic ones, have been found.
