Abstract:
Trichodinella epizootica (Raabe, 1950), a new trichodinid fish-parasite species for the fauna of Yugoslavia, was discovered. It was recorded in samples of fish-pond carp fry (young-of-the-year) taken during 1993 at two fish ponds in Banat, Vojvodina. The first data on seasonal dynamics of this ectoparasite revealed that it was more frequent in spring than afterwards. It was noticed that it caused damage to the epithelium in infected fish. This fish parasite and its effect on the host therefore deserve special attention in further investigations.
