Abstract:
The growth-in-length of the roach Rutilus rutilus (L., 1758) population in the middle course of the Zapadna Morava River (Serbia, Yugoslavia) was similar to the values recorded for the roach elsewhere from the Danube River basin tributaries; precisely, it was even slightly faster, especially in the young age classes. There was no significant difference of the growth-in-length between sexes. Within the examined river section, the biggest growth-in-length was recorded in the reservoir profile, with slow water current (i.e. almost stagnant water) and the most favourable life conditions regarding food, spawning sites, etc.
