Abstract:
The ichthyofauna of the Vlasinsko jezero reservoir comprises 16 species, of which only two, Salmo trutta Linnaeus 1758 and Barbus peloponnesius Valenciennes 1884, are autochthonous, and the rest of them have been introduced. Two new species for the fauna of Yugoslavia were found: Rutilus macedonicus Steindachner, 1892 and Scardinius graecus (Stephanidis, 1937). The structure of the fish community in the reservoir is rather heterogenous, due to its complex morphology and the introduction of new fish species. The water quality, according to the fish community in it is β-mesosaprobic. However, the evaluation of the saprobity must be taken with reserve, due to the great anthropogenic impact on the structure of the fish community in the reservoir.
